COMPARISON SHOPPING FOR YOUR EQUINE INSURANCE?

Smith-Embry Insurance Associates, Inc. can help you make the right decision.

The basic insurance policy for your horse provides insurance for death resulting from an injury, illness or disease sustained during the policy term, including euthanasia if recommended by the attending veterinarian and agreed by the insurance company.

Most horse mortality policies include FREE coverage for emergency colic surgery with a specific annual limit of coverage.  The annual limit offered by each insurance company could be different, so you will want to make sure you are advised of the limit when obtaining a quote.

Many horse owners today are looking for medical insurance for their horse.  The Major Medical/Surgical Endorsement can be added to your basic horse policy.  It is not a “stand alone” policy.  This endorsement provides for reimbursement of veterinary expenses for treatment required as a result of an injury, illness or disease sustained during the policy term.  The coverage provided under the Major Medical/Surgical Endorsement can vary greatly by company.  If you are purchasing this endorsement, you need to pay special attention, not only to the annual limit you select, but also the deductible applicable to each loss as well as if Co-Pays or Sub-Limits on certain treatment will apply.
